Director of Service & Support Administration

Summary:
Directs, manages and coordinates SSA and MUI function for MCBDD; responds to internal and external community needs with primary emphasis on consumer’s needs; develops policy and procedures for the delivery of services; participates in the development of agency policies and procedures. Develops practices to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and fundamental skills of Service and Support Administrators. Assure the health and safety of individuals supported by the MCBDD. Assures that service plans developed by supervised employees are in compliance with Federal, State, local rules, regulations, statutes standards, as well as Board policy, regulations and procedures. Is an active member of the agency’s management team which helps guide the agency in its mission through the development of the Strategic Plan and subsequent action plans and strategies. Must strive to meet the MCBDD mission and exemplify the Agency’s principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitates oversight and coordination of all aspects of SSA. Ensures delivery of best practices. Administers SSA programs and services. Assigns duties, reviews and assists with planning and problem solving. Maintains records and reports in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with accreditation and regulatory standards or contracted agreement. Organize department in order to provide quality services efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversees the county board’s MUI function. Monitors MUI/UIR data and oversees the review of UIs/MUIs to identify any patterns/trends. Assist staff with the identification of needed follow up activities to ensure health and safety to include development of prevention activities.
  • Provide advocacy, training, and coordination of agency resources and supports to the staff and other involved parties as necessary. Supervises SSA personnel in performance of duties to include the approval of personnel actions, personnel evaluations, and establishes rules and regulations concerning the performance of their duties; ensures certifications and required trainings remain current; addresses complaints and resolves problems; interviews and hires departmental staff; assigns and directs work; and rewards and disciplines staff.  Develops and monitors SSA budget; authorizes expenditures within established guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures and best practices. Formulates policies and procedures for new or revised program areas.
  • Maintain working relationship with other agencies, direct service staff, management staff, applicants, and county officials. Participate in meetings with other professionals and agencies.
  • Attends staff and management meetings, other service agency meetings and regional and state conferences; serves as an agency liaison and maintains social service contacts required for program’s needs.
  • Provides direct services to consumers and families; advocates consumer rights and needs; refers consumers to other service agencies as needed; establishes and maintains record keeping system as required by program and administrative needs.
  • Participates in public relation activities to promote support and public awareness of all aspects of Medina DD Board and the DD service delivery system at large. Attends meetings and/or meets with parents, community groups, service agencies and general public as needed to support the work of the MCBDD.
  • Able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises SSA Managers, IA staff, and support personnel in the Service and Support Administration Department at the MCBDD.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university required.  Master’s Degree Preferred.  Minimum of five years of experience working in Service and Support Administration. At least two of those years in a supervisory, management, or executive role. One to two years related experience strongly preferred. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of and/or experience with Transition Developmental Disabilities and knowledge of and/or experience with Provider Compliance Reviews.

  • Must meet agency computer competency level requirements.
  • Must meet agency driving requirements. May be required to drive agency vehicles.  Must hold valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Must successfully complete a BCII background check.
  • Must meet all other agency employment requirements.  Must meet all requirements as outlined on the corresponding job description.

 

Salary: At least $84,246 annually; negotiable based on combination of experience and education
