Giving Back – MCBDD Staff Volunteer During Morning of Service

The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) demonstrated its commitment to giving back by organizing a special morning of service, where staff members volunteered at various community organizations across the county.

As part of the MCBDD’s annual In-Service Day on Friday, March 7, MCBDD employees stepped away from their daily roles to support local nonprofits and service organizations, reinforcing the MCBDD’s goal of fostering an inclusive and supportive community for all. Area agencies which opened their doors to the MCBDD efforts included: Cups Café, Forever Amber Acres, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice of Medina County, Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center, Hope Recovery Farm, Kitten Krazy, Brunswick Library, Medina County Senior Center, Medina County SPCA, Soprema Senior Center, Woven with Promise, Community Action Wayne/Medina, Medina Creative Accessibility and The Society. Volunteers participated in a variety of activities, including organizing food, sorting donations, cleaning facilities, and helping maintain animal shelters and farms.

“Community involvement is at the heart of what we do,” said Stacey Maleckar, MCBDD Superintendent. “Our staff is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental differences, and this morning of service is a reflection of that commitment to all members of Medina County.”

This initiative not only benefited the organizations served but also allowed MCBDD staff to connect with the broader community in meaningful ways. By stepping outside their regular roles, volunteers gained a deeper appreciation for the partnerships that help make Medina County a more welcoming place for people with disabilities. The morning of service reinforced the MCBDD’s commitment to social responsibility and collaboration to making a difference.
