Service and Support Administration Manager
Summary: Assists the Director of SSA in the management and coordination of the SSA department for eligible individuals in Medina County. Supervises the practice of service and support administration under the supervision of the Director of Service and Support Administration; Develops practices to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and fundamental skills of Service and Support Administrators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in hiring and training of SSA staff. Coordinates all required processes for onboarding new employees into the SSA Department.
- Assists and supervises all aspects of SSA to assure compliance with agency policies, applicable rules and laws as well as best practice and guiding principles. Provide direction, training and technical assistance to Service and Support Administrators in developing person-centered plans: including plans for individuals receiving HCBS waivers and MCBDD local funds. Assigns duties, reviews and assists with planning and problem solving. Monitor and ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in the various database systems.
- Works with SSAs to ensure the health and safety of individuals through the team process with individuals, guardians, families, providers and others as needed, supports staff in the review of UIs/MUIs to identify any patterns/trends. Assist staff with the identification of needed follow up activities to ensure health and safety to include development of prevention activities.
- Ensures the SSA Department’s compliance with all applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures, and best practices. Participate in Medicaid Waiver Reviews, Audits, DODD Accreditation and CARF Surveys. Ensures delivery of best practices.
- Facilitates the development and monitoring of crisis intervention activities in conjunction with other involved individuals. May facilitate crisis intervention activities. Ensures that necessary services are available on a 24 hour basis and crises are responded to within a timely manner. Able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with individuals, administration, other agencies, professionals, staff, families and the public. Function as a liaison with internal and external providers. Participate in the development and the management of specialized functions, work groups and work projects as identified.
- Supervises SSA personnel in performance of duties to include recommendation of personnel actions, personnel evaluations, adherence to rules and regulations concerning the performance of their duties; ensures certifications and required trainings remain current; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Works closely with the Business office to authorize and monitor expenditures for HCBS Waivers and local community dollars to ensure fiscal responsibility. Assures that all applicable policies/procedures and rules are followed.
- Provide direction and oversight to ensure timely and accurate enrollment of individuals on HCBS Waivers to maximize usage of local, state and federal dollars.
- Attends staff and management meetings, other service agency meetings and regional and state conferences; serves as inter agency liaison and maintains social service contacts required for programs needs as directed by Director of SSA.
- Participates in public relation activities to promote support and public awareness of SSA program; attends meetings and/or delivers speeches to parents, community groups, service agencies and general public as requested and/or approved by Director of SSA.
- Perform Medicaid administration claiming activities as they relate to this position. Document activities in a manner consistent with DODD requirements – Random Moment Time Study (RMTS).
- Assists Director of SSA with development and monitoring of SSA budget; recommends expenditures within established guidelines.
- Serves as a back-up to the Director of SSA in his/her absence or as requested.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Special Education, Social Work, Psychology or related area. Masters degree preferred. Must have at least three years of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities. Must have some supervisory experience in a related field preferred or substantial professional experience in service coordination. Must be eligible for an Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities SSA Management 2 certification.

- Must meet agency driving requirements. May be required to drive agency vehicles. Must hold valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
- Must successfully complete a BCII background check.
- Must meet all other agency employment requirements. Must meet all requirements as outlined on the corresponding job description.
Salary: At least $61,899 annually (negotiable based on experience and education)
Hours: Exempt position; at least 40 hours per week
